Paradocs Farm Horse Camp

With the facilities, personnel, and expertise available, Paradocs Farm is uniquely qualified to provide a camp experience unlike any other.

Students may bring their own horse or they will be assigned school horses.  Safety will be addressed first, then the responsibilities that come along with caring for an animal.  Daily lessons in veterinary care will be given by licensed veterinarian, Dr. Joan Prasse.  Campers will be taught nutrition, herd health care programs, strategies for disease prevention, broodmare care, first aid techniques, and how to administer injections and medications.

The camp covers many training techniques including round pen training, lungeing, long-lining, ground-driving, and how to work with young horses.  Basic horsemanship and the various disciplines of riding are covered.

Exposure to western (stockseat), saddleseat, huntseat, jumping, dressage, and driving during the week-long camp will increase understanding of the complexities of good riding.

The aim at Paradocs is to make camp as fun and educational as possible.  Campers set goals for the week and evaluate their progress by critiquing daily video tapes.  With individual attention, students are shown ways to work through specific issues on their own.

Working with several different animals daily helps the student progress in his chosen discipline, plus be exposed to many new styles of riding.  Learning to harness and drive is always very popular!

Attending a horse show, swimming, trail riding and various field trips round out the week.  Fun for all ages and abilities.
